Our Client Services Director Nina is returning in October after a year on maternity leave, with her son Jesse. Sadly she is coming back with a little less than she left with. Here’s her story….
"10 weeks or so ago I started to lose my hair. Brushes filled, drains blocked, carpets covered. Alopecia had struck again.
Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. Sometimes small bald spots. Sometimes all hair.
I have lost 90% of my head hair, an eyebrow (yes, just one) and my arm and leg hair. Luckily I still have my eyelashes; unfortunately I still have to shave under my arms!
I am incredibly blessed with a beautiful son, fab husband and a supportive team of friends and family and there are lots of people going through a lot worse than losing their hair. Still life in a headscarf, and soon possibly a wig, is a hard adjustment.
On 9th September I am going to take back control and shave my head. To try and make the most of a not so great situation I am going to do this for charity.
I will split the donations between Alopecia UK and Tommy's, which support baby loss and fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. Two wonderful charities that have supported me through two different types of loss.
Thank you for your support x"
